Vintage Oak Bureau – Cottagecore Makeover

This beautiful vintage oak bureau has been given a unique cottagecore makeover, combining layers of colour, texture and character.

The exterior has been painted in layers of milk paint, creating a gorgeous naturally crackled finish. The paint has then been gently distressed to enhance the rustic, timeworn feel, with subtle layers showing through beneath.

The two drawer fronts have been decorated with a beautiful botanical floral transfer, bringing together soft creams, blues, greens and deeper tones. The paintwork has been finished with layers of clear and brown waxes, adding warmth and depth to the finish.

The shapely oak base has been left exposed and enhanced with gel stain, allowing the beautiful grain and turned legs to contrast against the soft blue painted finish.

Inside the drop-down writing area, I’ve added another layer of colour with a deep blue painted interior and a bohemian-inspired stencil, creating a lovely surprise of colour and pattern when the bureau is opened.

As well as providing a beautiful statement piece, this bureau offers plenty of practical storage, with two drawers and a generous drop-down writing area.

A truly one-of-a-kind piece, full of vintage character and cottage charm.
